Finally back from Spring Break, and now it’s crunch time! Time to finish the final stretch of school and find that job. Many of my friends will be interning this summer before they find a fulltime job. The best part about having an internship after graduation is that you may get a fulltime job out of it. Nothing is a guarantee, but I have some guidelines to get you that end result that you want…. A FULLTIME JOB!
Make a great impression
The worst thing you could do as an intern is slack. Think of your internship as a tryout for a fulltime position. Show up on time, be reliable, ask questions, produce quality work, and be willing to learn new things.
If you are interested in a fulltime position for the company, let your supervisor know. They will be able to help you get the position that you want. However, don’t assume that you have a position in the bag. It may also help to contact some previous interns. They may also be able to give you some advice.
Don’t clam up
You are in a new place. It’s scary! However, you need to make sure you open up. Introduce yourself to others! Knowing the employees can give you an advantage.
These guidelines seem straight forward, but sometimes we need a reminder. Good luck! I hope you turn your internship into a fulltime job!
