Social Media: A Tool of Power for the People

In the midst of our daily intake of Social Media, we fail to look at the bigger picture. Instead, we look at comments about the new Lady Gaga song or talk about how much the new Facebook sucks. It’s time to WAKE UP!

I don’t mean this in a mean way, but after reading Goal:Finding More Meaning in Social Media, I can’t help but feel frustrated with this generation. We have bigger things to look at besides reactions to the SheenRoast. I am not only talking to you, but myself as well.

With the horrible job market, government money crisis, upcoming presidential election, Wall Street protest, and so much more going on, we need to realize the true power of Social Media. What power is that? Here is the example used by the article. This YouTube video helped spark change in a police
brutality case in Fullerton, CA.

WARNING: Viewer Discretion Is Advised

This story is tragic, but humbling to the Social Media world. Without the use of Social Media, the world wouldn’t know the truth about this story. This shows that Social Media can be used as a perspective of truth to what happens in this world. It can be used as a tool of power for the people. Think about it.

  1. Amazing blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers? I\\\\\\\’m hoping to start my own website soon but Im a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that Im completely confused .. Any ideas Victoria Elisabeth? Appreciate it!

    • Thank you for reading! My recommendation is to just write about what you see or read about. Write about things that make you think. I would advise you to start with a free platform such as WordPress. Connect it to your Facebook and Twitter that way you can instanty publicize your writing, and you can start a reader foundation for your blog.
